An American Marriage

A compassionate story of love and loss.

What happens when you been apart longer than you been together? And that decision was made for you by circumstances out of your control. Newlyweds Celeste and Roy are visiting his parents when Roy is accused of rape. He is sentenced to 12 years in prison for something he didn't do.

Celeste knows her husband is innocent, but she doesn’t know how to handle it. The years pass and suddenly Roy's sentence is overturned. He gets out early and wants to come home to his wife. But nothing is ever that simple.

It’s a story of injustice and betrayal but mostly it’s a story of love. The portrayal of the characters and their emotions were excellent and felt true. I warmly recommend this book.
